Flora was a post-doctoral researcher aiming at investigating neuronal pathways mediating negative affective states associated with the experience of pain and how they may represent a trigger for the development of long term co-morbid psychiatric disorders.

Flora did her Ph.D. in the Lab of Dr. Moulédous in Toulouse, France where she studied the impact of chronic stress on the nociceptin system in the dorsal hippocampus and how those changes may influence hippocampal plasticity, neurogenesis and ultimately deficits in memory formation and maintenance.

She continued a journey in Science in the Lab of Dr Catherine Cahill at UCLA
